My name is Juan Foster. I’m a U.S. Army disabled veteran, a husband, a father, and the owner of HERGUARDED Co LLC, a disabled veteran-owned business.

I served in the Army as a 13B Cannon Crewmember in Field Artillery, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas from 1995 to 1998. Artillery is a team job. Everybody has a role, and everybody depends on everybody else doing theirs. It taught me discipline. It taught me preparation. It taught me to stay aware of what’s going on around me. Most of all, it taught me that you look out for the people beside you.

That lesson didn’t stay in the Army. It came home with me.

Why I Started Herguarded

Herguarded started for a personal reason. I have women in my family I love. Over the years, I’ve also known and heard about women who were assaulted or ended up in dangerous situations with nothing to protect themselves. Nothing in their hand. No plan. No options.

That stayed with me. It still does.

I kept asking myself one question. What if they’d had something? A pepper spray on their keychain. A personal alarm loud enough to draw attention. A stun gun in their bag. Nothing guarantees safety. But having options changes the odds, and it changes how confident you feel walking to your car at night.

So I built Herguarded. The name says where it started. Guarding her.

Protecting women is the heart of this business, and it always will be. But I learned quickly that a lot of people are asking the same questions. College students walking across campus after a late class. Seniors living on their own. Professionals heading to a dark parking garage. Families who want their homes a little more secure. Travelers staying in unfamiliar places.

I don’t want Herguarded to be just another website selling products. I want it to be a place where you learn something.

That’s why you’ll find straight explanations throughout this site. What a product is. How it works. What it’s designed for. Where its limits are. Who it fits best. I’ll tell you the truth, even when the truth is that a different product would suit you better. No product stops every threat, and I won’t pretend otherwise.

Here’s what I believe. Awareness comes first. The right tool comes second. And the best tool is the one you’ll actually carry and know how to use. Preparation isn’t about living in fear. It’s about taking responsibility for yourself and the people you love.
